Tip: First share saturates at T as a grows much larger than b; equal a and b splits T evenly.

Frequently asked questions

▶How do I split a total in the ratio a:b?

First person gets a/(a+b) of the total and second gets b/(a+b). For total 240 split 3:5, the first share is 3/8 * 240 = 90 and the second is 5/8 * 240 = 150. The lab does this division automatically.

▶How do I use the ratio splitter lab?

Slide total T and the two share numbers a and b. The lab shows how T splits into a*T/(a+b) and b*T/(a+b). Try T = 500 with a:b = 2:3 to see Rs 200 and Rs 300.
