Frequently asked questions

How do we add coins and notes?

Count coins and notes of the same value first, then add them. Two 10-rupee notes plus three 5-rupee coins make 20 plus 15, which is 35 rupees. The rupee symbol shows the total.

How do I use this money lab?

Pick how many of each note and coin you have using the sliders. The lab shows your money on a tray and writes the total in rupees. Try mixing notes and coins to reach exactly 100.

When do we add money at home?

Counting your Diwali shagun, or finding the total cost of groceries at the kirana shop, or adding pocket money saved in a piggy bank. Every shopping trip is a chance to practise.

Tip for counting money

Always count the biggest notes first, then smaller notes, then coins. So count 100-rupee notes, then 50s, then 20s and 10s, then coins. This makes the total quicker and you make fewer mistakes.
