Times-Table Explorer

A times table lists what you get when you multiply a number by 1, 2, 3, and so on. The 5 times table starts 5, 10, 15, 20, 25. Knowing tables makes multiplication and division much faster.

Pick the table you want (say 7) and pick a multiplier (say 4). The lab shows 7 times 4 equals 28 and also lists the whole 7 times table. You can also see a grid of dots showing the product.

If one ladoo costs 8 rupees, 6 ladoos cost 48 rupees, thanks to the 8 times table. Counting weeks in days uses the 7 times table. Tables save time at the shop and in your exams.

Indian schools have taught tables for hundreds of years, sometimes as a song. The trick of singing them aloud helps the brain remember. Once a table is in your memory, it stays for life.
